Poetry Qiraat & Nasheed Factor Touring ALL Of Scotland

Salam WR WB,

Recently it has been decided to incorporate a Poetry and Qiraat Category into the competition to allow a more diverse range of talent to be showcased.

SO we have 3 categories

  • Nasheeds Naats Hamds
  • Poetry
  • Quran Recitation

An adult and a childrens winner will be selected from each category!

Quran Recitation is the bread and butter of Islam and we felt saddened to leave this out of the competition so it is back in, so if you know anyone who can hold their tone when reciting Quran please let us know and tell them to apply!

In addition we also have poetry now! Where Rap will also be allocated into this category so if you can lyrically impress us with your islamic words then apply!

OH! & We are also visiting ALL Scottish Cities.

  • GLASGOW
  • EDINBURGH
  • DUNDEE
  • ABERDEEN

We will be touring the whole of Scotland in the search for Scotlands Next Biggest Vocalist!

Watch this space for audition dates and more information!!

Remember this is for ............. THE POOR! We are singing .......... because they don't have the opportunity to!

Nasheed Factor loves charity! Save more to give more - Saving tips!

Nasheed Factor loves charity! Allah loves charity.

Feeling the pinch? Or a student? Where does it go!? Find yourself saying "I JUST got my pay!?" In order to give a little more, you can make the smallest of cutbacks, and that little extra you save can go a long way.

Here are the best tips for saving a little more, so you can give a little more..

1. Poundland

Needs no explanation. 10 packets of Mccoys for a pound, 4 Kit Kats for a pound, 4 cans of Pepsi for a pound. Let's compare this to News24's Mccoys at 70p per packet - no wonder it's a stuggle to save! Take that extra trip and stock up on your munchies. The tip here is - BUY IN MULTIPACK.

2. The thermal cup

Coffee junkie? - GUILTY! At almost £3 for a cup of coffee, it's surprising that some people still get tea/coffee everyday. Get a thermal cup and make your own, even go the extra mile and indulge in hot chocolate, then take it out with you! The trick is eliminate a daily habit by creating your own. Buy one for £2.95 at Esquires.

3. Get Lloyds TSB's SAVE THE CHANGE service

If you bank with Lloyds they have a great free service where if you spend an amount on your debit card - it gets rounded up to the nearest pound and the spare change goes straight into another account for you. So if you spend £4.95 - it'll save 5p of your money, if you spend £1.98, it'll save 2p and £3.72 - saving 28p and so on.. Then you'll have collected all your pennies - give them all to charity. Read about it here.

4. Get a TASTECARD

50% off meals and 2 for 1 meals all the time! 1,600 restaurants are included. So if you really cannot avoid the odd fancy dinner - get a TASTECARD!

5. Do the pound a day challenge!

So many children are dying because of lack of food and water. These basic essentials we take for granted. But they are the essentials. Forget the extra spending and try spending £1 a day for a month. There's no greater satisfaction if you can even save that £1. Leave your credit and debit cards at home and be brave and generous! Whatever you save - give it to charity. This campaign is tremendous.

6. Make the most of the internet!

You'll be surprised. Spend some time looking around for the cheapest deals for anything. Pricerunner is great for this. Forget designer brands. Shop in sales and discounts. Boohoo, Very and ASOS are all fashionable and you can really bag a bargain. Or how about all items of clothing for a fiver each. Everything5pounds is the way to go. Bargain clothes and no one needs to know ;)

Nasheed Factor will hope to raise a lot of money inshaAllah during our final event. All profits go to major and most neediest causes around the world.

What is a Nasheed? Nasheed Factor are keeping it fresh

With many differences in opinion on the etiquette of what a Nasheed is, we thought it would be educational and beneficial for us to let the public know on what a Nasheed means to Nasheed Factor.

Nasheeds – beautiful, peaceful and calming songs that tell truths and tales; promote humanity, charity and Islam. This is the type of music which we must emanate to the community in order to tackle the social problems which societies face in the world today.
Established Nasheed Artists differ on what their opinion and thinking of what a Nasheed is. Some artists sing with a full instrumental band, some artists only sing with percussion instruments and others only sing with their voice. Many Scholars have differences in opinion on this matter.

The content of the Nasheed also differs, with some artists only singing Nasheeds which sends salutations to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and other artists sing any content as long as it is related to the teachings of Islam.

All the Nasheed Factor Production wants to say is ..............................................

Nasheed Factor is keeping it fresh.

By fresh we mean, traditional, old school and new school. But one thing is for sure, Nasheed Factor is only about The Voice. Backing tracks is a no go because it takes away the essence of the words which are being sung/recited, we want to listen to the message! Not the tune! And that is what every contestant will be based on. The message is what is most important, the meaning of the words, the story emanated from the words and the softness of the words. Secondly backing tracks are not easily accessible, hence it ensures fairness across all contestants.

The content of the Nasheed must not in any way be controversial to Islam and the teachings of Islam, because it is a simple matter of respecting our creator Allah swt.

We put together a beautiful pictorial diagram of what the essence of a Nasheed must be:

We have had great success in meeting with the Imams and Alims in Scotland who have taught us how best to execute the competition in order to ensure that this is a halal production and that is exactly what we are doing. Listening to the knowledge of Islam.

So you guys are saying right now .........................

"Man why you be hatin' on normal music, whats up with all the nasheed promotion y'all"

Subconsciously it is scientifically proven that music activates nearly every region of our brain, some songs are cleverly made to affect your brain waves, to release a chemical called Dopamine to make you feel good. This is what mainstream, non permissible music, does to you.

Music can have a massive influence on us all, it manipulates our mood, alters it or even programmes us!

We have all faced it! You are sitting in your car, a song comes on the radio and you start bopping your head! Or you drive faster!

This is something which we want to get away from in life as muslims. Only practising Islam should make you feel good, and you should fill up your mind what positive thoughts, positive images and positive actions. Not the sins which mainstream music portrays in the world today.

So from the Nasheed Factor team all we want to say is

We're keeping it real

Nasheed Factor creating hype!

It's absolutely amazing, Alhumdulillah, everywhere the Nasheed Factor team are going - we see there is already some hype and buzz about Nasheed Factor! We have people thinking about nasheeds, artists, their meanings and Islam - as well as the contest itself.

After attending a nasheed concert in Birmigham (the Evening of Inspiration), it has confirmed to us that there definitely is a space for a contest such as Nasheed Factor to take place. We described it as a "Muslim X Factor" - a light hearted and fun way to perceive Nasheed Factor. But it is definitely more than that! It incorporates the need for charity and helping poor people as well as giving our youth a platform to showcase their voice and deen. And in another blog there are pictures of Native Deen supporting Nasheed Factor as well.

The team attended many events such as the Lifestyle show and Shawlands Mela. We have had a positive response and much valuable feedback. With one lady saying "I was just telling my son that we need something like this, it's brilliant."

We are planning to attend a dinner in Edinburgh - Palestine dinner, and here we hope to be inspired and touched by everyone. Coming together to help for a good cause really does make all the difference and that is the spirit with Nasheed Factor.

Something made me smile today, a young man from across the world in another country has asked to participate in Nasheed Factor - if we had magical transportation powers we would definitely want him on board, but for our semi finals and grande finale - the distance would be too much for him. But inshaAllah going worldwide would be a goal for the future. For now, Scotland wide it is.

"Compassion is very difficult to give away because it keeps coming back"

And indeed, compassion is very important.

Evening of Inspiration

Nasheed Factor: Evening of Inspiration 2012

On Sunday 8th April, the Nasheed Factor Team jetted down to the ICC Symphony Hall in Birmingham for the Evening of Inspiration Tour 2012 for the Orphans hosted by Islamic Relief.

The event set-up was mindblowing, the professionalism of Islamic Relief was on form with an army of volunteers not only from Birmingham but from all over the UK, ready to answer the call. The co-ordination of the volunteers, meeting and seating of guests and charismatic attitude they adopted made the night an unforgettable one to say the least.

Over £134,000 raised for orphans through the One Safe Village appeal. With 5 orphans being sponsored from members of the Nasheed Factor Team from Islamic Relief Scotland.

So what did the Nasheed Factor Team get up to?!

From the off start we went behind the scenes to visit all the stars of the show, we started off by meeting Junaid Jamshed, that's right I said it! Junaid Jamshed! Who was practising his vocals for his big performance on the night! Junaid kindly autographed an album wall frame which was professionally made to auction off to raise money. Which will be available on the Nasheed Factor Finale! He showed great interest in Nasheed Factor and praised the cause "Rebuilding People's Lives"

Next up .... Native Deen! 3 young men from the USA who are a phenomenal harmony group with exciting energy, bursting on stage. Being with Native Deen backstage; we realised how down to earth these nasheed artists were. Native Deen kindly shot some footage with us for the Nasheed Factor and signed nasheed memoribilia to auction off to raise money. Their response to hearing about Nasheed Factor was "Damnnn that's hottt".

We also bumped into, met and gret huge stars such as Ahmed Hussain! Preacher Moss! and not to mention SHAAM the Nasheed Group whom we had extensive interviews with regarding Nasheed Factor.

Finally we got to meet the biggest stars of the show .............

Outlandish! The 3 most coolest guys the Nasheed Factor Team have ever met, maxing and relaxing backstage with Outlandish was an unreal experience. They took great interest in Nasheed Factor and were overwhelmed by our Nasheed Factor Arabic Logo Canvas! Outlandish also shot some footage with us for the Nasheed Factor Production.

All in all the Nasheed Factor Team had a very productive night! Despite not getting to actually watch the show, being backstage with some of the top names in the industry provided to be a very interesting, worthwhile and mind blowing experience. The Nasheed Artists response to the concept of Nasheed Factor was uplifting, positive and supportive.

Please watch the video below for an interactive video of our trip to Evening of Inspiration!
